Saturday reflections

I worked in the atelier after breakfast for a few hours. I then went out to visit galeries. I went to the Champs-Elysees area where there are many upscale galleries. It reminds me of the upper east side of New York. I like many of the early 20th century and mid 20th century artist that are shown in this district. I was introduced to a few artist such as Maurice Esteve, Zao Wou-ki, and Manuel Cargaleiro. Today it rained in the evening. I was going to eat in the park across the street but a fine drizzle ended that idea. Many people had umbrellas. Some stayed on their park benches and continued on with their conversations. Fashion is real in Paris. Bright colors are in and the scarf a necessary accessory for men and women especially for young adults to those who are in their latter years. School age children dress casually and often in soccer gear. The French smoke. The streets often smell like cigarettes and perfume. There is a glamour here like in no other place. The people look like characters in movies. From the international business types and beautiful women to academics, artists , poets and service industry types each one has their own sophistication. You can sense their pride through their carefully crafted image.
