The road to Taos was a spectacular views of mesa, gourges and water features. We saw the Rio Grande. Taos is let’s say comfortable. It markets the arts and the presence of Agnes Martin in particular. Georgia O’Keefe painted the famous San Francisco de Asis. She painted the back side because of the shapes and shadows. I photographed the facade. We went into town and went to the Harwood Museum and saw some more Martin pieces. There was a Taos scene by John Marin. We are staying at the Casa Benavides. There is an overwhelming presence of native culture. From the construction of the brown mud homes to the Native American handcrafts, one feels the presence of a ancient culture. The open space reminds us of our tiny presence.
