Claude Monet

After we went to the Musee L’Organerie , we decided to see the works by Monet at Musee Marmotten Monet. We stopped for lunch and met an American who was with her daughter. She turned out to be the wife of the Austrian Ambassador. She was from Chicago so we had much to talk about. The Musee Marmotten was a run down old mansion with over grown landscaping but it did have Monet’s “Sunrise” which was the painting that an art reviewer referred to as an impression. That term stuck and now describes an important era of western art history.
