The Ecole des Beaux Arts holds a special place in art history. It has a complicated history but the current configuration of buildings started in 1817. It is hard to imagine the likes of so many french artists who attended or taught here. The elegant structure now in disrepair was attended by many of the leading French realist and impressionist painters. Now the structure combines 19th century classicism with contemporary irony and forces of conceptualism.
